Boiler Repair

Green Bay & NE Wisconsin • Hydronic is a specialty, not a side job

A lot of Northeast Wisconsin’s older housing stock is heated by boilers and radiators, and a lot of contractors would rather not touch them. We work on them by choice. Cast iron, condensing, steam or hot water, baseboard or radiator or in-floor — hydronic heat is a system we actually know.

What We See Most

Old Boilers Are Often Worth Keeping

A well-maintained cast-iron boiler can run for decades, and the replacement cost is high enough that "just replace it" is rarely the honest first answer. We will tell you when the block is genuinely done, and we will tell you when it is a circulator, an expansion tank, or an aquastat — which is far more often. Plenty of the boilers we service will outlive the furnaces installed down the street.

Near-Boiler Piping Matters

A surprising share of boiler complaints come back to piping that was never done right — wrong circulator location, missing air separation, expansion tank on the wrong side of the pump. Those cause symptoms that look like equipment failure and get treated by replacing parts that were fine. We check the piping before we start swapping components.

Radiators, Baseboard, In-Floor

Standing cast-iron radiators, fin-tube baseboard, radiant in-floor loops, and steam systems. If it moves heat with water, we work on it.

Why It Matters

Hydronic heat is quiet, even, and does not blow dust around the house — there is a good reason people who have it want to keep it. The risk is that the pool of contractors who genuinely understand these systems keeps shrinking, so homeowners get pushed toward a forced-air conversion they never wanted. You have another option.

Frequently Asked Questions

My boiler is 40 years old. Do I need a new one?

Not necessarily. Cast-iron boilers routinely run that long and longer. What matters is the condition of the block, the safety controls, and whether the failed component is worth replacing. We will show you what we find.

Some of my radiators are cold. What is wrong?

Most often trapped air, which is a bleed-and-balance job, or a circulator that is not moving water through that zone. Both are fixable without touching the boiler itself.

Do you work on steam boilers?

Yes. Steam is its own discipline with its own failure modes, and it is genuinely getting hard to find people who know it. We do.

Can I get air conditioning if I have a boiler?

Yes — usually with ductless mini-splits, since there is no ductwork to work with. That is one of the most common reasons people call us about mini-splits.
